Today’s Flowers – Pink Geranium and Joey Paws

Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Here are a few photos taken from my garden recently for Today’s Flowers

The gorgeous Joey Paw (miniature Kangaroo Paw, or Anigozanthos) is an Australian native. The plant grows up to 18ins/45 cm in full sun or part shade, and is drought tolerant.

Busy weekend

As I am writing this, the sun is setting on a Sunday afternoon in Australia, and the weekend is coming to an end. It has been a busy one for me, with lots to do around gardening. Here’s an account…

Saturday:

  • Attended a “Grow your own herb and vegie” workshop in the morning at a local garden centre,
  • Followed by a trip to the library to borrow a book on succulent,
  • And to the newsagent to buy a magazine on gardening (a free pack of carrot seeds came with it – yay!),
  • Which I enjoyed reading at the hairdresser, and
  • By the time I got home, I was so tired that I rested in front of the TV watching 2 gardening shows, back to back. They were very enjoyable and gave me lots of ideas… LOL, much better than watching Sex In The City.

Sunday:

  • By morning I had had time to process the lesson learnt at the workshop on Saturday, and was really excited. I went to the garden centre again, and I bought some vegetable and herb seedlings (just a few to start), a self-watering pot, soil and fertiliser,
  • I also managed to squeeze in some stationery shopping, and
  • Then I was gardening for most of the afternoon. It was sunny – perfect for a day outdoors. I have added carrots, tomatoes and spring onions to my little “edibles” collection of coriander, basil, thyme, oregano, Vietnamese mint and chilli plants.
  • In addition to that, there was a lot of re-potting and re-positioning of plants.

It was a long but satisfying day. It has been a while since I was able to work on the balcony due to constant rain. There’s still lots to do… But for now, I am rewarding myself with a Beez Neez Beer, which tastes great after an afternoon in the sun… Cheers!

You know something? One day, I'm going to steal your plants and your illustrations and run off. I mean it. I wish I was a jumper!
I can't begin to express how amazing those pink geraniums and the slender Joey Paw look.
And sure, you had a busy weekend. Thought it was an ideal weekend and days well-spent. :)

You had a busy two days! I never got my climbing green beans or my collards planted...maybe tomorrow in the cool evening hours I can get it done! The Beez Nees beer looks so good.
