Spotted these in the city a few days ago…
There were too high up for me to take a good look…
Maybe holes were cut out in the middle, and pots placed in the holes. Your guess would be as good as mine…
The pots added a little bit of interest to an otherwise dull back lane. Maybe not the most functional, but definitely creative and interesting.

Hope you are having a nice week. My week has been busy, but it’s okay since it is the good kind :). I have been drawing the last few hours, while cooking. I am realising that I haven’t got a lot of patience. I had to stop a few times. The break helps me to re-focus when I sit down to continue the piece.
I was drawing from a photo of daisies I no longer have, but this photo was taken just a few days ago. This is Seaside Daisy (Erigeron) which is hardy and suitable for coastal planting. Great for my balcony.
I love weekends. I had thought of going to the farmer’s market but it’s been raining. The prospect of having a nice day out is slim. We might just have a cosy weekend at home.

My kalanchoe blossfeldiana bloom
I am guessing that this is ice plant. It forms a gorgeous red groundcover along the beach
Cotyledon orbiculata red blooms from the neighbourhood. I love them – fantastic blooms and grey leaves.

These gorgeous spiky Kniphofia buds look really lovely against the green field. This is a photo I took while visiting a friend.
The Kniphofia is also known as red hot poker and torch lily, and grows up to 2 meters (over 6 feet) tall. The 2nd photo is a close-up.

Christmas day was spent with friends – a family with 3 kids. A lovely day, but LOL, it always reminds me how happy we are to be a family of 2 (no offence intended to anyone).

These photos were taken outside the Melbourne Botanical Garden. There is a 4 km jogging track around the garden, and a section is planted with succulents. I see the succulents whenever I drive past. Last week, I was finally able to get close on my bicycle, to take some photos. I was enthralled – there were lots of varieties of succulents; some of which I have only seen in books or on the web.
In this post, I would like to share a few photos of Aloes and Agaves.
The Agave above is huge – taller than me. I felt small and vulnerable when I got up close!
The last photo shows my favourite Agave. I wish mine would hurry up and grow big.
And finally, an illustration of my Aloe, which grows happily in a pot on my balcony. It has given me a few offshoots, which are now growing independently.

When I arrived home from my camping holiday recently, I was pleasantly surprised by a few blooms that showed up…
The icing on the cake – I bought this geranium for its lovely leaves, and did know that it will flower. I am thrilled, and what lovely flowers.
A holiday photo : this koala lives in or around our camp ground, and is not afraid of humans. It was about 5 feet from us when this photo was taken! We spotted 2 of them. Lovely little creatures but they were very noisy at night – their sounds akin to snoring but 50 times louder!
It was quiet at our camp ground. Besides animal watching (lots of birds), reading and enjoying the country air, I had lots of fun time with my watercolour and pens.
I completed these little pieces during the holidays.
