Happy Cactus Monday!
This week, I am sharing another 2 pots on my studio table . You may be wondering why the soil looks a little odd… actually it’s sphagnum moss on the outside and soil …
Why? Because these are rather precious ceramic boxes (shown below with lids) I made when I was in art school, and I am not ready to drill and convert them into permanent pots. Not yet anyway…
So my solution is to make a few little baskets out of wire mesh, which I can lift out of the boxes to water. I placed sphagnum moss around the sides and at the bottom to contain the soil within the baskets.
This way, I can use the boxes as plant pots without drilling :). Who knows, maybe I’d want them to be boxes again later…
This one on the left is a similar one which I posted a few weeks ago. I have not used a basket for this because the box is porous, and enables water to very slowly seep out. A few people suggested that I could drill a hole, an advice I do appreciate. But not yet…
I hope you enjoyed my little crafty project.
