I have been saving these sturdy plastic pots which came with new plants. When I ran out of pots (again) last week, I decided to paint them to match my existing terracotta pots.
Left, newly painted pot; right, before the paint job.
I am happy with the result; I only wish I have more of these plastic pots to play with. Here are my 2 new pots of herbs.:
Vietnamese mint (left) and oregano (right)
ps. I used acrylics paint which adhered to the surface really well.
And here are some foliage to share, all planted in terracotta pots…
Geranium
My indoor pot of String of Pearls

I am a pot saver too....I almost have my entire greenhouse outfitted for seedlings from the saved cell packs and trays of years before I had the building!
great paint job...nice plantings!
I love painting containers, these turned out great..now, where can I get a string of pearls like that?
Great idea! You did an awesome job. Your plants look so happy.
*hugs*deb
Lovely new pots!!! Your plants are gorgeous as always, girl!!!
Nice job on the pots. Your string of pearls is really nice. I don't know if i have ever seen one of those.
What a wonderful idea! I need to get my old plastic pots out and paint them. Yours look great!
That's what I'd like to do too. You did a good job on yours.
Love the string of pearls. I like the terra cotta too and love to paint any thing I can get ahold of. Pop over for a visit some time. Blessings

Nice transformation on the pots.
«Louis» could use some help with his face. Wanna try?!
;-)
Great idea! I love when plants come in these types of pots that can be used again. I love the string of pearls, they remind me of peas!
I love your String Of Pearls. Not too long ago I was wondering where I could find String Of Hearts that I use to have for years. I must have finally killed it. LOL
Great job on the pots. I just picked up some clay ones for a Tipsy Pot and thought about painting them but so far nothing . . . I keep my old pots too for replanting in the greenhouse. My girlfriend owned a nursery and she retired. I got as many as I wanted of hers so that was nice!
Misd all my friends posts'..wasn't well.
Will come back and read in detail
But for now

This is lovely. I've been hoping to do this for a long time but have not got around doing much. Did you coat the plastic surface with acrylic paint directly or there is a pre-paint process too? Would love to know how you did it.
