We stayed in China for 4 weeks – one week in Hainan Island and 3 weeks in Beijing.
One of the gardens we went to was called the Purple Bamboo Garden.
There were no purple bamboo, but there were lots of green ones. It was a beautiful place.
There were many groups singing and playing music. People in these groups (and other community groups in parks) tend to be older – retirement must be a really fun time in Beijing :)
And an area for foot reflexology… It can be quite painful where the stones are sharp.
Last day in China….
On our last day, we decided to find a garden to just sit and read. We found this quiet place with these lovely elevated planters.
Plants I can recognise and remember are dusty miller on the top planter and ferns on the side
Lovely and colourful border
Bromeliads on the top planter
I will be back with photos taken in Japan in the next post.

Everything is so pretty and bright. It looks very clean also, is that true? It is so wonderful that the older generation can have a wonderful retirement, singing songs and playing musical instruments like that.
The reflexology area sounds really great, except for the sharp stones.
I love those raised planter boxes, Evelyn. You can enjoy the flowers without having to bend your back – and the colours just beckon you over to have a look.
after all your traveling, you need to walk on the stones and have foot reflexology. There were strips of this in Singapore, but my feet could not tahan the pain.
Re: The flower bao, no I didn't make it. It was my ESOL mid term shared lunch. Some China students made them. My PRC friends in Singapore showed me how to do it.
Are your parents from Malaysia or Singapore? The flower bao is similar to the KONG TOU YEW BAK buns. Only the Singapore ones are one alyer.
Great photos. A beautiful reflection in the first shot. I would love to use that reflexology area.
Hi Evelyn
amo molto la Cina ed il Giappone per la loro bellezza e storia antica... i loro monumenti antichi di milleni sono magnifici !
Queste tue foto sono molto belle... la passeggiata sulle pietre forse un pò meno :-))
( non sò se la farei ! )
Grazie della visita.
Buona domenica.
What a cool travel by the lake. Awesome scenery!
