Kniphofia, and a wonderful Christmas surprise

Merry Christmas Everyone!

These gorgeous spiky Kniphofia buds look really lovely against the green field. This is a photo I took while visiting a friend.

The Kniphofia is also known as red hot poker and torch lily, and grows up to 2 meters (over 6 feet) tall. The 2nd photo is a close-up.

Warm wishes from downunder

Hope you had a lovely day on Christmas. Our family Christmas get-together was on on Christmas eve this year. Here’s me with Buddy the dog, wishing you happy holidays from down under :)

Christmas day was spent with friends – a family with 3 kids. A lovely day, but LOL, it always reminds me how happy we are to be a family of 2 (no offence intended to anyone).

Pick of the Week

Sorry not quite gardening related but… Ooh, and I have just discovered that my submission to Illustration Friday has been selected as “Pick of the Week”! I’m thrilled – what a great Christmas surprise!

TodaysFlowers Hope you are all well and are having fun.

This is my early submission to Flowers Today – but I wanted to get online to wish you well.

Fun post, looks you had a great Christmas! Red hot pokers grow in Tucson but probably not as big as yours. Congrats for being "pick of the week!"

Great post! Red Hot Pokers were the first flowers I ever planted when I had my home built and then got married - and they were given to me by my Mother. Guess they hold a bit of a special place for me even though they clash with my color scheme. LOL I'm adding lots more colors now so it's all working out!!!

These are the Red Hot Poker plants? They are suppose to be great plants to attract hummingbirds.
They are lovely.
