Cactus Monday – Making the Kalanchoe plant bloom, plus more

As usual, my CM post is a bit of this and a bit of that… But first of all Happy Cactus Monday, and hopefully you had a lovely weekend.

Reblooming the Kalanchoe

I found this link about Reblooming Kalanchoe. The process involves starving the plant of sunlight and water for a month… My very dark bathroom with no windows would probably be a good place. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have some blooms to show after this experiment. If you have any tips, suggestions, or success stories, please feel free to add your comments – it will be very much appreciated :).

Wish me luck!

Some succulent photos

Here are some recent photos of my succulents.

My Aeonium which I’ve had for a number of years. It has been growing well and has given me a number of babies.

One of the first succulents I bought (I lost its tag, so I apologize that I am not able to name it). It took a few months to settle into my garden. Now, I am happy that it is growing well and spilling over the edge of my pot as intended.

My Kalanchoe inspired piece

Finally, here’s another doodle – my recent abstract piece featuring the 4-angle leaf formation of Kalanchoes looking from the top…

Have a good week.

@messyfish: Thanks. We seem to have the same plants... first pigface then this one!

@Urban Green: It does sound a bit extreme, doesn't it? Well, the article said it will be ok... but I'll keep a close watch!

I am giving succulents one more chance this winter during our dry season, our rainy climate is not conducive to growing them. I have many Kalanchoe plants on the ground, I am willing to try no water but no sunlight for a month is to drastic for me.
Very nice photos

Interesting that your burrito is happy indoors...I just moved my String of Bananas inside to my kitchen window...it was failing outside...I am giving it a little more water and doing an experiment to see if I can save it.

That third plant down looks closest to Aeonium viscatum, in my Succulent Dictionary. Says it will have numerous yellow flowers, if that is indeed it! It is really beautiful! I love the thick waxy looking leaves and the way they grow!

Your painting is really neat! The Kalenchoe leaves are it's real beauty, for me!
